Bird Ladies Issue No. 2

$10.00

Bird Ladies is a zine about women from history who worked to protect birds and educate the public about their behaviors. In the first issue, I created a sampler pack of early “bad girls” who used their education (another battle they had to win) and/or spheres of influence to found the Audubon Society and help pass the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. In this second issue, I decided to focus on just one bird diva from amongst these all-stars, Mabel Osgood Wright who wrote Birdcraft, the very first field guide published in North America in 1895. This issue is also special because I’ve invited my friends & family to contribute works which express aspects of their relationship to birds.
